Humanize AI text so it reads like you wrote it

Paste text from ChatGPT, GPT-4o, Gemini or Claude and get a natural, human-sounding rewrite in seconds. Choose the reading level, purpose and strength — then check the AI score before and after.

The humanizer rewrites for a natural voice. Review the result for meaning, and never pass off work as your own where that is not allowed.

The basics

What an AI humanizer does

An AI humanizer takes text that was generated by a language model and rewrites it so it reads the way a person would write it. Machine text has a recognizable texture: sentences of similar length, stock transitions, abstract nouns and a confident, even tone. The humanizer breaks those patterns — varying rhythm, swapping generic phrases for plain ones and loosening the structure — while keeping the meaning intact.

The result is measured, not guessed. Before rewriting, the tool scores your original with the same engine as our AI detector. After rewriting, it scores the new version. You see both numbers side by side, so you know whether the rewrite actually changed how the text reads rather than just shuffling a few words.

Use it on your own drafts: an outline ChatGPT helped you expand, an email you asked Gemini to tidy, a report section that came out stiff. It is a writing aid, not a way to disguise work you did not do — see the note on fair use below.

Three steps

How to humanize AI text

No account, nothing to install — paste, choose, rewrite.

1

Paste your text

Drop in up to 15,000 characters of AI-generated or AI-assisted writing.

2

Pick the voice

Set the reading level (high school to doctorate), the purpose (essay, article, cover letter…) and how aggressive the rewrite should be.

3

Compare the scores

Read the rewrite next to your original, with the AI percentage before and after. Copy it, or run it again with a stronger setting.

Why it works

Machines write evenly. People write in bursts.

The single biggest tell of AI writing is uniformity. Every sentence lands between fifteen and twenty-five words, every paragraph opens with a topic sentence and closes with a summary, and the same handful of connectors — moreover, additionally, in conclusion — stitch it all together. Readers feel it even when they cannot name it.

The humanizer deliberately introduces the irregularity of real writing: a short sentence after a long one, a concrete noun where there was an abstraction, a sentence that starts with the object instead of the subject. Those changes are exactly what lower the perplexity-based signals detectors rely on, which is why the AI score falls.

Settings guide

Choosing the right reading level, purpose and strength

The three controls shape the voice of the rewrite. A sensible default is High school · General writing · Balanced.

Reading level

High school gives short, clear sentences and everyday vocabulary — the safest choice for most text. University and Doctorate keep longer sentences and technical terms for academic writing. Journalist produces tight, direct prose; Marketing allows a warmer, more persuasive tone.

Purpose

Purpose tells the rewriter which conventions to respect. Essay keeps an argument structure, Cover letter preserves a first-person, formal register, Story allows narrative pacing, and Report, Business and Legal material stay precise and avoid informal phrasing.

Strength

Quality makes the lightest edit and is best when wording matters. Balanced rewrites more thoroughly while keeping structure. More human is the most aggressive — it reorders and rephrases freely, drops the score the most and needs the closest review.

A rewrite you can still edit

Humanized text is a draft, not a final answer. Read it once for meaning — a rewrite that changes a fact, a number or the stance of a sentence is worse than the original, however human it sounds. The Quality strength stays closest to your wording; More human restructures more freely and should be checked more carefully.

The best results come from a second pass by you: add the detail only you know, cut anything that sounds like filler, and read the piece aloud. Then run the detector one more time. Most texts land comfortably in the human range after a single edit.

Who it's for

Who uses the AI humanizer

🎓

Students

Turn an AI-assisted outline into writing that sounds like your own voice — then check it with the detector before submitting.

📝

Bloggers and content teams

Publish articles that read naturally and avoid the flat, templated tone that readers and search engines increasingly recognize.

🌍

Non-native English writers

Smooth stiff or overly formal phrasing into natural English without losing your meaning.

📣

Marketers

Rework AI-drafted product copy and emails so they sound like a person talking to a customer, not a template.

💼

Job seekers

Make a cover letter drafted with ChatGPT sound specific and personal instead of generic.

🔬

Researchers and professionals

Loosen the uniform cadence of AI-polished reports and summaries while keeping the technical content precise.

Fair use

Use it to write better, not to deceive

A humanizer is a tool for improving text you are entitled to submit as your own work — a draft you wrote with AI assistance, a translation, a piece you are editing. Using it to pass off generated work where AI use is prohibited, or to disguise authorship in academic, legal or professional settings, is misuse, and most institutions treat it as such.

We also want to be honest about limits: humanized text can still be flagged by some detectors, and a rewrite can subtly change meaning. Always read the result, keep the facts straight, and follow the rules of wherever the text is going.

Tips for humanizing AI text well

Give it full paragraphs. The rewriter needs context to vary rhythm naturally; a single sentence has nowhere to go.
Start with Balanced. Move to More human only if the score stays high — the stronger the setting, the more you need to review the output.
Match the purpose. A cover letter rewritten as "Story" will drift informal. Pick the purpose that fits where the text will be read.
Add what only you know. One concrete example, name or number does more for a human voice than any automatic rewrite.
Questions

AI humanizer — frequently asked questions

Is the AI humanizer free?

Yes. Like the detector, it is completely free with no sign-up, supported by advertising. The limit per request is 15,000 characters.

Will the humanized text pass AI detectors?

Usually the AI score falls substantially, and you can see the exact before-and-after numbers from our detector. No tool can guarantee a result on every detector, and we do not promise one — treat it as a strong improvement, then edit by hand.

Does it change the meaning of my text?

It aims to preserve meaning while changing rhythm and word choice. On the Quality setting changes are light; on More human they are broader. Always read the result, especially numbers, names and claims.

What languages does it support?

English gives the best results. Other major languages work, though the rewrite may be lighter. The detector score shown alongside works across 40+ languages.

How long can the text be?

Up to 15,000 characters per request — roughly 2,500 words. For longer documents, humanize section by section.

Why does the result sometimes take longer?

Each request runs three steps: scoring your original, rewriting it, and scoring the rewrite. Expect 10–20 seconds for a long passage.

Is my text stored?

No. It is processed to produce the rewrite and the scores, then discarded. We do not keep a copy or use it for training.

Is it okay to use for schoolwork?

Only where your institution allows AI assistance. Using it to hide AI authorship where that is prohibited is academic misconduct. Check your course policy.

What is the difference between the three strengths?

Quality edits lightly and keeps your wording, Balanced rewrites more thoroughly, and More human restructures freely for the biggest score drop. Start with Balanced.

Can I humanize text and then check it again?

Yes — the result already shows the new AI score, and you can paste the humanized text into the detector on the homepage for sentence-level highlighting of anything that still reads as AI.
